What is Chronic Renal Insufficiency (CRI)?

Chronic Renal Insufficiency (CRI) is an irreversible chronic disease in which kidneys are functioning at low capacity to perform hydro electrolytic depuration and regulation, with accumulation of substances derived from metabolism or diet in the blood.

In Chile, there are approximately 323 cases in under-18 children; 44 newly reported cases in 2003 - 5 transplantations per year at the UC Clinic Hospital.
